Driftembre

I am no stone
I am no river
I am a red leaf
in the wind
I am the last child
of the limb

I am no forest
I am no sea
I am a fragment
on my own
I am taken
where I’m blown

[extraneous saturday post – because it is the last day of fall, and rules, even (or perhaps especially) those self-imposed, are made to be broken.]

"Driftembre"... how wonderful is that?

"I am a fragment
on my own
I am taken
where I’m blown"
in deed... what a joke to believe we can control our lives, when we are nothing but autumn leafs, riding on the wind...

I am so glad you broke your own rule and posted on a Saturday. I wish you posted everyday. (that wouldn't be too much to ask, would it?)

How lovely, this poem, Joaquin.
I love this line: "...I am the last child of the limb." That is one breathtaking line! Wow!

And those last few lines really bring it home.

The title is clever and works so well with the piece.

Oh, I love this! I agree with K. The title rocks. I love the red leaf in the wind and "I am a fragment/on my own." Great lines!

This piece has such strength of conviction to it. A powerful mantra, to be sure. ;) Hope you're enjoying the holidays, dear. Have a blessed new year. Cheers.
