Hiatus (Kind of. But not really.)

So let’s say that for the month of June I have to take a hiatus. That would be cool, right? The world would keep spinning? Except I can’t stand the thought of not posting every Thursday, mostly because of how completely unlike me it is to have not missed a week, or seven, or abandoned the whole thing by now. But you know what I could do? I could schedule out the next 4 posts with some of those (at least 10 years) old poems I just dug out of those boxes of junk I’ve been going through. Actually, that’s probably not a very good idea. Then again, it’s not like I have a bunch of pride to protect, so I could totally do that. It might be painful, or amusing, or interesting, or not, but at least it would keep the streak alive. That’s not cheating, is it? (Yeah, right - like I am above cheating.)

Ok, so say I do my June posting in absentia. What about everyone else? I mean, I know I would miss their comments – what if they miss mine? They might think I’m getting weird or I’m ignoring them or something. What if they think I’m a jerk for not having the common courtesy to check out their blogs and let them know I was there? No, they wouldn’t think that. They’d understand, I think, if they knew that it was just temporary, something I don’t want to do but kind of have to do. If they knew it wasn’t anything terrible, just a bunch of normal things I have to address so I can keep my head above water, I bet it wouldn’t be that big a deal. And when I come back around in July and dig through all their stuff I missed, I’m pretty sure they’d forgive me.

I mean, these are some pretty remarkable people we’re talking about. Some pretty incredibly remarkable people.

with more gratitude than I could ever hope to express,

jc

I'd say that would be really cool, as long as you promise not to forget your way back! You're a pretty incredibly remarkable poet, and I'll take you, in absentia and all!

I hope you get all things all caught up. Good luck with that.

By the way, how cool is it to have those initials? "Karen, this is jc speaking..." I wouldn't capitalize either (all puns always intended).

Dayum... I've been dittoing you a lot for the last couple of days Karen. But can't help it.

Ditto to Karen. As long as you say the blessed words "I'll be back", its all fine with us.

Scheduling the posts is a great idea and going through old jusnk is closest thing to treasure hunting. One never knows what he may find there. Am sure we'll get something great to satisfy our reading desires.

You enjoy the time off. And here I humm November Rain again "Everybody needs some time, on their own....."

Already I have missed you over at my blog, and now I have to REALLY miss you! Damn! Remarkable (look over shoulder right, then left) you mean ME? Um...oh alright fine, I'll understand. I hope you have a wonderful month. But I'll only forgive you if you promise to go to the beach and stand there for five minutes with your feet in the sand, and ocean waves lapping over them and let the water wash the sand out from under your heals to the point where you are about to fall backwards and then I want you to send that sensation via the psychic airwaves to me, who has not seen the Pacific in over a year now, and has never been that long without the ocean in her life. Please do that for me, and then I will consider allowing your absence and look forward to the refreshed and newly invigorated Joaquin when you return. My wild and wayback friend.

Ok,

Hi Joaquin
The world WILL keep spinning, yes, but with less interest. Be cool, jc. Hurry back!

Take the time you need, Joaquin. I'll check in every Thursday for those oldies, but goodies. I'm gonna miss your comments like mad - and will be happy to have you back live and in person!! Be well, my friend.

That is the coolest (as an aside, I think this is the first time I've ever used that adjective, and in the superlative, too, here in the blogosphere, haha) hiatus post I've read, for all my years as a blogger bloghopping. Gotta love the logic, too, the if-then reasoning. (big grin) Even in this, I do so admire your creativity. See you in July. ;)

No problem at all. Please excuse my absence, too. It's not intentional. Chasing my tail, and as usual, don't have a clue what I'm doing. I'm glad you're still posting, though. Newer folks like me might not have gotten a chance to read them. Even if I have, I will enjoy the ride. See you in July!
